Analysis

What types of content can I analyze?
PaletteCheck can analyze plain text, rich text, marketing copy, social media posts, and images (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP). For images, our AI examines color usage, typography in graphics, photography style, and logo placement against your brand guidelines.
How does the compliance score work?
Your compliance score is a 0-100 rating that shows how well your content aligns with your brand guidelines. Here's how it works: The Scoring System - 90-100 (Excellent) - Content is fully on-brand with no significant issues - 75-89 (Good) - Mostly on-brand with minor issues to address - 60-74 (Fair) - Several violations that should be fixed before publishing - Below 60 (Needs Work) - Major brand inconsistencies that require revision What Gets Analyzed PaletteCheck reviews your content across multiple brand elements: ✓ Color Usage - Are the right brand colors being used? ✓ Typography - Do fonts match your brand guidelines? ✓ Brand Voice & Tone - Does the messaging sound like your brand? ✓ Logo Usage - Are logos used correctly (if applicable)? ✓ Visual Style - Does imagery match your photography guidelines? ✓ Messaging Rules - Are forbidden keywords or phrases avoided? How the Score Is Calculated The AI analyzes your content against each guideline and assigns: 1. Violations by severity: - High severity - Major brand guideline breaks (larger impact on score) - Medium severity - Noticeable inconsistencies (moderate impact) - Low severity - Minor issues or optimization opportunities (small impact) 2. Overall compliance - The AI weighs all findings together to generate your final score Beyond the Number The score is just a starting point. What matters most are: - Specific violations identified - What exactly needs to be fixed? - Actionable recommendations - How can you make it more on-brand? - Strengths highlighted - What's working well that you should keep doing? Pro Tip: Don't just chase a perfect 100. A score of 85+ with clear strengths usually means your content is ready to publish. Focus on fixing high-severity violations first.
Why do I sometimes get different scores when analyzing the same content multiple times?
You may notice slight variations in scores when running the same analysis multiple times. This is normal and expected when working with AI models. Here's why: AI Models Are Creative, Not Calculators Unlike a math equation that always returns the same answer, AI models are designed to interpret content thoughtfully—similar to how different brand reviewers might notice slightly different things. This natural variability is part of how AI works. What Causes the Variations? 1. AI Randomness Settings - Our AI models run with settings that allow for creative interpretation. While some models use low randomness (temperature: 0.3), others like Anthropic Claude use default settings that introduce more variation in how they analyze content. 2. Multiple Expert Opinions - If you have ensemble analysis enabled, multiple AI models review your content simultaneously. Just like getting feedback from three different brand managers, you might see slightly different perspectives that affect the consensus score. 3. Complex Analysis - Brand compliance involves nuanced judgment calls about tone, style, and visual elements. AI models may weigh certain violations differently on each analysis, especially for borderline cases. What This Means for You - Small variations (±5 points) are normal and don't indicate a problem - The specific violations identified** are more important than the exact score - Trends over time are more valuable than individual scores - Major compliance issues** will be caught consistently across all analyses
Can I export or share my analysis results?
Yes! Each analysis includes options to export as PDF, copy a shareable link, or download the results as JSON. Professional and Agency plans also support white-labeled PDF reports with your company branding for sharing with clients or stakeholders.
How do I view my past content checks?
All your content checks are saved in the Analysis History section, accessible from your dashboard. You can filter by date, brand guideline, score range, or violation type. Click any past analysis to view the full results and recommendations.
What violation severity levels does PaletteCheck use?
Violations are categorized as High, Medium, or Low severity. High severity indicates clear brand guideline violations (wrong colors, forbidden words). Medium severity covers inconsistencies that may confuse your audience. Low severity flags minor suggestions for optimization.

General

Can I manually add colors that weren't extracted from my PDF?
Yes! In the Brand Guidelines editor, click "Add Color" to manually add any colors to your palette. You can specify the color name, hex code, RGB values, CMYK values, and usage notes. This is useful for colors that may have been presented visually in your PDF without explicit values.
What is PaletteCheck?
PaletteCheck is an AI-powered brand compliance checker that helps you verify content against your brand guidelines instantly.
What information does PaletteCheck extract from my brand guide?
Our AI extracts colors (primary, secondary, accent), typography (fonts, weights, usage rules), brand voice characteristics, logo usage rules, photography guidelines, and any do's and don'ts mentioned in your guide. The extraction works with any PDF format—traditional corporate guides, modern minimalist designs, or creative agency formats.
What file formats are supported?
Currently, we support PDF uploads for brand guidelines. Content analysis supports text, images, and URLs.
How do I add forbidden words or phrases to my brand guidelines?
In your Brand Guidelines editor, scroll to the "Messaging & Keywords" section. Here you can add forbidden words, required terminology, and competitor names to avoid. PaletteCheck will flag any content that uses forbidden terms or misses required phrases.
Can I create brand guidelines without uploading a PDF?
Yes! You can build brand guidelines from scratch using our manual editor. Click "Create New Guidelines" and select "Build Manually." You'll be guided through adding your colors, fonts, voice characteristics, and other brand elements step by step.

Getting Started

How do I upload brand guidelines?
Go to Dashboard > Brand Guidelines > Import, then upload a PDF or create guidelines manually.
How long does it take to set up PaletteCheck?
Most users are up and running in under 5 minutes. Simply upload your brand guide PDF, wait for our AI to extract your brand palette (usually 30-60 seconds), review the extracted guidelines, and you're ready to start checking content.
What should I do if my brand guide extraction looks incorrect?
You can manually edit any extracted guidelines directly in the Brand Guidelines editor. Click on any section to make changes, add missing information, or remove incorrect entries. Your edits are saved automatically and will be used for all future content checks.
How do I run my first content check?
Navigate to the Check Content page from your dashboard. Select the brand guideline you want to check against, paste your text or upload an image, then click "Check Palette." Results appear in seconds with a compliance score and specific recommendations.
Can I import brand guidelines from a URL instead of uploading a file?
Currently, PaletteCheck supports PDF uploads for brand guideline extraction. If your brand guidelines are hosted online as a webpage, we recommend saving them as a PDF first. URL-based imports are on our roadmap for a future release.

Absolutely. You can change your plan anytime from your Billing Settings. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated charges. Downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle, and you'll keep your current plan benefits until then.
